      About the Administrative Console Workspace

      The Administrative Console window displays a list of containers by location on the left side of the application window. The details of the selected container are displayed in the tabs on the right.

      Menus and command buttons are available for containers.

      All tabs, except Appliance Logs and Services, are read-only when a container is docked.

      Administrative Console supports standard Windows shortcuts. For example, press:

      TAB to move to the next control, or

      ESC to cancel an action.

      Application Menu

      The table below provides information about the tools found in the Application menu at the top of the Administrative Console window.

      Menu Option

      Description

      Create Empty VAA

      Lets you create an empty container. Note that you cannot create a container if shortnames are disabled. See the virtacreatePreview command in the CLI Guide.

      Refresh Appliance List

      Refreshes the list of containers. See Viewing ContainersPreview.

      Exit

      Exits Administrative Console.

      Tools Menu

      The table below provides information about the tools in the Tools menu at the top of the Administrative Console window.

      Menu Option

      Description

      Edit Appliance Locations

      Lets you change the location of appliances on your machine. For information, see Viewing ContainersPreview.

      Logging Options

      Lets you specify logging options. For information, see Setting Error Logging Types and LevelsPreview.

      Set Activation Code

      Lets you update the activation code for your VirtaMove license. See Updating the VirtaMove Activation CodePreview.

      Refresh Cache

      Refreshes the cache of the registry on the source machine for the selected container, and migrates data once again.

      Compare Firewall Rules

      Runs a utility for Comparing Firewall RulesPreview between the source and destination machine. This is useful if Audit displays a warning about firewall conflicts or differences.

      Compare Group Policies

      Runs a utility for Comparing Group Policies between Source and DestinationPreview machine.

      Run VirtaDebug

      Lets you run Virtadebug to gather information that will let VirtaMove identify and resolve possible migration problems. You must respond to the prompt to start the gathering process.

      Security Key

      Lets you import, export, or create a security key for VirtaMove Source Agent.

      Lock/Unlock VAA

      Lets you lock a container by specifying a password, or unlock a locked container. You cannot modify settings for a locked container.

      Help Menu

      The table below provides information about the tools in the Help menu at the top of the Administrative Console window.

      About

      Displays information about the VirtaMove software version and build number.

      Help Topics

      Displays VirtaMove online documentation.

      Command Buttons

      The following table provides information about the command buttons in the tool bar at the top of the Administrative Console window.

      Button

      Description

      Viewing VAAs

       

      Refreshes the list of containers.

      Lets you add or remove folders for container locations.

      Expands the list of displayed containers.

      Collapses the list of displayed containers.

      Docks the selected container.

      Undocks the selected container.

      Runs the selected container. If a default application is not associated with the container, then the VirtaMove command prompt is displayed.

      Compresses the selected container.

      Uncompresses the selected container.

      Upgrades the selected container.

      Lets you specify a Config-on-the-fly file and arguments for a selected container. The button is not available for a docked container.

      Lets you dissolve the selected container application to the underlying operating system. This action cannot be reversed.

      Deletes the selected container.

      You can also access commands by right-clicking a container in the container list:

      Tabs

      The following table provides information about the tabs in the Administrative Console window.

      Element

      Information

      Displays appliance properties and creator information about a selected container.

      Appliance Settings

      Lets you view and manage appliance settings.

      Tether

      Lets you enable or disable Tether and configure information required to connect to the source machine.

      Credentials

      Displays a list of account credentials used by the container. You can change a password if required.

      Services

      Lets you view and remove container services.

      Accounts

      Lets you view user accounts and group accounts used to support Tether.

      Appliance Logs

      Lets you view activities and error logs for a selected container and export log files.

      File Tree View

      Lets you scan and select files on the source machine so that you can add them to the container during the migration process.

      Registry Tree View

      Lets you scan and select registries on the source machine so that you can add them to the container during the migration process.
