      Using the Active Connections view

      The Active Connections view of the Source Details window displays a list of the applications that have active connections on the source, and details about each connection, such as port number being used.

      To View Active Connections on a Source

      1. Click Manage>Sources. The Source Inventory windows displays.

      2. Select an active source. The Source Details window displays.

      3. Click the Active Connections icon in the Source Details window.

      4. Do one of the following:

        • Click the icon on the top left to view a list of active incoming and outgoing connections for applications being monitored.

        • Click the ARP icon on the top right to view Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) information for peripherals that the source machine has connected to.

       

      The following table describes the information listed on the Active Connections view of the Source Details window.

      Item

      Description

      Application

      The name of the application.

      Hostname

      The hostname of the source that the application is running on.

      IP Address

      The IP address of the source that the application is running on.

      Port

      The port number that the application is using.

      Direction

      The direction of the active connection: bound, incoming, or outgoing.

      Timestamp

      The timestamp of the last active connection.

      Agent

      Whether a Source Agent is installed on the source.

      Opens a menu of actions that you can perform. You can install a Source Agent on a machine that has an active connection yet does not have a Source Agent installed on the machine.

       

      The following table describes the information listed on the Active Connections view, ARP details, of the Source Details window.

      Item

      Description

      Interface IP

      The interface IP.

      IP Address

      The IP address of the source that the application is running on.

      MAC

      The MAC address.

      Hostname

      The hostname.

      Type

      The type.

      Known

      Whether the connection is known.

      Opens a menu of actions that you can perform. You can install a Source Agent on a machine that has an active connection yet does not have a Source Agent installed on the machine.
