    Dissolving a Container
    Updated Mar 28, 2022

      Dissolving a Container

After you have migrated an application and exercised it, you can choose to dissolve the migration container. This transfers the application to the underlying operating system of the destination machine so that the migrated application behaves as if it had been installed there. All dependencies on VirtaMove are removed.

You can view the Dissolve Report in the folder C:\appliances\ContainerName\VirtaDissolveReport.html.

      Caution:
The dissolve action cannot be reversed.

      To Dissolve a Container Application

      1. Select the container and click Undock if the container is docked.

      2. Click Use Tether if this checkbox is enabled.

      3. If you wish to run Dissolve for an IIS application, you must first use the Windows Service Manager on the destination machine to stop all IIS services.

      4. Click the Dissolve button.

      5. Click Yes to continue. A window shows the progress of the Dissolve operation.

      6. Click Close.

      7. Resolve any issues or errors listed in the Dissolve ReportPreview. If you resolved issues, run Dissolve again. Run Dissolve as many times as required to successfully dissolve the application.
Dissolved application containers are flagged in red in the Administrative Console.

      8. Restart your computer. If you do not restart, services may not start correctly and may not display correctly in the Services Control Manager.
